Magog curlers heading to Nationals
TheMagog Wheelchair curling team will be representing Quebec for a fourth time at the Canadian Nationals. They just finished winning the provincial title in a series of games, played at the Magog Curling Club on February 25th and the 26th, against a combined team of players from Quebec City and Trois Rivieres. The Magog team is made up of Benoit Lessard (skip), Johanne Daly (first), Sebastien Boisvert (second), Carl Marquis (third), and Denis Grenier (fifth).
“We won all three of our games by a good margin. We have a lot more experience than they have,” explained Sebastien Boisvert, who lives in Stanstead. The Magog team has been improving steadily at each appearance at the Nationals, coming in 9th at their first and 6th last year. “I think we have a good chance of finishing fourth this time. Our skip, Benoit Lessard, has really improved,” commented Sebastien who, like all of his teammates, will be doing a lot of curling, 25 hours in total, to prepare for the Nationals which are taking place in Thunder Bay between March 18th and the 26th. “We have to improve our strength of placing rocks in the ‘house’,” added Mr. Boisvert.
