Sap still flowing!
Despitethe recordbreaking high temperatures we have been experiencing in the Townships since last week, the sap in the maple trees is still flowing! “The sap is still running. It even kept running over the weekend. I was a little surprised myself and I think it’s because the ground is still frozen. We’ve been able to make a little syrup every day, but we’re still quite behind, of course,” commented Stanley Holmes of Way’s Mills.
“It’s not a good year. We started off awful early and my experience tells me that we usually have six or seven weeks of running, and this is week five,” said the maple syrup producer. The syrup being produced is a little darker than at the beginning, but still of good quality.
