WithFraud Prevention Month just about to end, the Sureté du Quebec has some important tips for people to follow: shred all receipts, cheques, pre-approved credit applications, and old revenue declaration forms that you don’t need anymore; never divulge personal information about finances, bank accounts, credit cards, social insurance numbers or driver’s licenses; verify your credit file every year and alert authorities immediately if you see a problem.
Many activities have taken place throughout the month, finishing with a schedule of document shredding events, that everyone can bring their personal documents to, taking place around the region. Bring your documents to: Coaticook SQ, March 28th, 3:00 to 4:00 pm; Ayer’s Cliff town hall, March 30th, 1:00 to 2:00 pm; March 30th, Bolton East, 3:00 to 4:00 pm; Memphremagog MRC SQ, March 31st, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Community Officer Sgt. Patrice Gregoire (right) and FADOQ member and former SQ officer Rock Gaudreault presented several conferences about fraud prevention throughout the month to seniors.
