Figure skating extravaganza this Friday
ThisFriday evening the Pat Burns Arena will host a figure skating extravaganza that will include some of Quebec’s most talented skaters as well as ‘figure skating champions of tomorrow’. Every year the Association Regionale de Patinage Artistique de l’estrie (L’ARPAE) chooses a new location for a figure skating show that features around 200 skaters from the ten Estrie skating clubs along with a few ‘stars’.
“They do an event like this every year and this time they will do it at the Pat Burns Arena. Mrs. Bouffard of the Association visited the arena a few weeks ago before choosing to hold the event here. It will be about a two and a half hour show,” explained Marc Parent, the manager of the arena.
The champion skaters who will be performing are: Vanessa Grenier, 7th at the Canadian Championship 2012; Catherine Daigle Roy and Alexis St-louis, 14th at the Canadian Championship 2012; and Maude Leclerc, a member of the Quebec team. There will be nine numbers skated by the various clubs, two synchronised skating routines, sixteen solos by the regional winners, and three solos by the members of Team Quebec.
There is an entrance fee of $5 for the event which begins at 7:30 pm.
