On Thurs­day, at noon on May 3, the East­ern Town­ships Cana­dian Club will fea­ture Dr. Ch­eryl Gos­selin, Dept. of So­ci­ol­ogy, Bishop’s Univer­sity. Her topic is In­te­gra­tion of New­com­ers to the Sher­brooke Re­gion; How Can the An­glo­phone Com­mu­nity Help?

Dr. Ch­eryl Gos­selin has been a mem­ber of the So­ci­ol­ogy Depart­ment for the past 20 years. Her teach­ing ar­eas are in gen­der and women’s stud­ies, ur­ban so­ci­ol­ogy, tourism, race and eth­nic­ity and transna­tional iden­ti­ties. Her re­search in­ter­ests in­clude Que­bec women, par­tic­u­larly the so­cio-eco­nomic po­si­tions of English­s­peak­ing women, the An­glo­phone lin­guis­tic mi­nor­ity com­mu­ni­ties of Que­bec and the in­te­gra­tion ex­pe­ri­ences of new­com­ers to the prov­ince. She serves on the board of di­rec­tors for Town­ship­pers’ As­so­ci­a­tion as well as the Que­bec Com­mu­nity Groups Net­work and is cur­rently Pres­i­dent of the East­ern Town­ships Re­source Cen­tre.
