Guns seized at Stanstead border
Duringthe night between April 25th and the 26th, Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers seized two firearms at the Stanstead border crossing on route 143. On April 26th, at 3:45 in the morning, a resident from the United States was stopped entering Canada through the Stanstead border crossing. After responding evasively to the officer’s questions and providing suspicious information on his itinerary, the individual was sent to the secondary inspection area. His vehicle was found to contain two handguns (caliber .40 and caliber .25). Both of the guns were loaded.
Criminal charges of making a false statement and smuggling have been laid against the individual who appeared at the Sherbrooke Courthouse on April 26th.
In 2011, the CBSA seized a total of 513 firearms at the border.
These guns were seized at the Stanstead border by CBSA officers last week.
