Localartist and gardening enthusiast George Foster is known for growing some interesting plants in his greenhouse and he’s done it again. Over the weekend he harvested what has got to be one of the largest radishes on record, weighing in at a little under ten pounds! “If I had kept the leaves on before weighing it I’m sure it would have been over ten pounds,” said Mr. Foster. The seed for the humongous radish, a Daikon ‘Mooli’, came from England and was planted in his greenhouse last fall. “It’s a mild radish that doesn’t bolt in the summer so it’s easy to grow. It’s also good to eat raw and cooked. I like it in stir-fries,” commented Mr. Foster who thought some of the Stanstead Journal’s readers might be interested in trying out this radish in their gardens this summer.

George Foster, of Way’s Mills, harvested this almost ten pound Daikon radish in his greenhouse over the weekend.
