Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEFS - Stanstead

Police officers with the Sureté du Quebec arrested a Stanstead man, last Thursday, after finding child pornography files on his computer and on DVD’S at his home on Leroy Robinson Street. According to the police, he could be charged with pos- session, the production and the distribution of child pornography. The investigation of this individual was started by American authorities in 2011 who then gave information to the police here.

Late Friday night a 21 year-old Stanstead man was arrested in Magog for drinking and driving. He had more than 80 mg of alcohol in his blood and was driving without a valid license. Besides criminal accusations and the suspension of his license for ninety days, the car which he was driving that did not belong to him was seized for thirty days. The owner of the car could be fined $300 and will have to pay towing and pound charges. That could have been avoided with a license check of the person who borrowed the car with the SAAQ that would have cost the car owner $1.55.

An argument between two men, Sunday morning in Magog, ended with the arrest of a 60 year-old man from Stanstead who was uttering death threats and who tried to drive into the other man with his car.
