Astronomy coming to Sherbrooke
Aspecialevent is being organized at the Marché de la Gare, in Sherbrooke, for a once-ina-lifetime event: the passing of Venus in front of the sun. Organized by the Mont Megantic Astrolab, everyone is invited to come to the Marché de la Gare, on June 5th, beginning at 5:30 pm, to witness this astronomical event that won’t happen again for another 105 years!
An animated presentation will take place before the actual event and special lenses will be on the telescopes so that people can witness Venus’ pass in front of the sun without damaging their eyes. Astrolab animators and members of the Sherbrooke amateur astronomy club will be on hand to explain the special celestial occurrence.
Even if it is a cloudy day, the event will still take place at the Marché with the astronomers by watching the phenomenon live on the internet.
