Astron­omy com­ing to Sher­brooke

Aspe­cialevent is be­ing or­ga­nized at the Marché de la Gare, in Sher­brooke, for a once-ina-life­time event: the pass­ing of Venus in front of the sun. Or­ga­nized by the Mont Me­gan­tic Astro­lab, ev­ery­one is in­vited to come to the Marché de la Gare, on June 5th, be­gin­ning at 5:30 pm, to wit­ness this as­tro­nom­i­cal event that won’t hap­pen again for an­other 105 years!

An an­i­mated pre­sen­ta­tion will take place be­fore the ac­tual event and spe­cial lenses will be on the te­le­scopes so that peo­ple can wit­ness Venus’ pass in front of the sun with­out dam­ag­ing their eyes. Astro­lab an­i­ma­tors and mem­bers of the Sher­brooke ama­teur astron­omy club will be on hand to ex­plain the spe­cial ce­les­tial oc­cur­rence.

Even if it is a cloudy day, the event will still take place at the Marché with the astronomers by watch­ing the phe­nom­e­non live on the in­ter­net.
