Several citizens attended Monday’s council meeting in North Hatley, most with questions about the new water treatment facility. “We should start building the new facility by the end of the summer,” said the town’s General Director, Leonard Castagner. The town has upgraded their computers and will give one of their used computers to the North Hatley Recreation Society. Donations of $250 each were also announced for the two local celebrations of St. Jean Baptiste and Canada Day.

A new by-law was adopted modifying the existing by-law related to parking. Because of the move of the North Hatley Farmer’s Market to River Park, the parking in the municipal parking lot, which is beside River Park, will be free of charge on Saturday mornings while the market is open. Pavage Maska was awarded the contract to pave Rublee Street.

The town will also be taking the necessary steps to apply for a Medal of Bravery for Daryl Williams, the North Hatley resident who entered a burning building and saved a man’s life last Saturday.
