Stanstead Market Opens Sunday
TheStanstead Public Market will open for the season, this Sunday, with a wide variety of products offered by more than twenty vendors on the beautiful grounds of Stanstead College. “We’ll be selling strawberry shortcakes at the opener as a little fundraiser for the market,” said Bev Goodsell who organizes the market along with Eva Juul, Marika Parenteau, Harvey Stevens, Michel Vaillant and Norman Vigneau. Fiddler Olivier Adoue will also be on hand to add to the special atmosphere of an outdoor market. “We try to have a musician come every week,” added Mrs. Goodsell.
A really wide variety of products are offered at this market. To tempt the palate (and fill up a picnic basket) there are home-made samosas, smoked salmon products, jams and jellies, honey, sourdough bread, French bakery products, organic beverages and baked goods, organic farm produce, bison sausages and strawberries. “We’ll even have home-made pasta this year,” Mrs. Goodsell mentioned.
Besides the delicious food, there will also be several artisans selling their wares: jewellery, stained glass, bath salts, hand-made cards, those decorative sewn muffins and cakes and imported clothes and jewellery.
Shoppers can park on Dufferin Street in front of the College and enter the grounds through the main gate to find the market.
