Butterfly chasing in Johnville

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEFS -

Ifyou like chasing butterflies then you won’t want to miss the event going on at the Parc ecoforestier de Johnville (Johnville bog) this Saturday, beginning at 1:00 pm. Nature Cantons-de-l’Est is holding its annual butterfly counting event and everyone is invited. Besides collecting statistics about local butterflies, the object of the event is also to help the public to learn about different kinds of butterflies and how to identify them. Many of the butterflies can be identified in flight, while others will have to de caught delicately with the help of butterfly nets, and then released. Although some nets will be provided, people with nets and identification guides are encouraged to bring them along.

To take part in this event which is for children and adults alike, go to the Johnville bog parking lot, on the North road in Johnville, for 12:45 pm. The cost of the activity is $2 for children, $4 for adults, and $10 per family. For more information call 819 569-9388.
