The organizers of the second annual CAB RH Rediker Golf Tournament presented an impressive cheque to CAB director Mylene LaBonté, yesterday. The tournament raised $10,500 for the volunteer centre, $1,500 more than last year’s event.

“This is the only fundraiser that we do just for the CAB, except for the kitchen fundraiser which was just for the renovation of our kitchen,” explained Ms. LaBonté. The money raised during the Christmas Basket Campaign is only for the Christmas baskets and the CAB’s food bank. “This money will help us to meet the growing expectations of the government. We are mandated to offer more independent living services which we are happy to do. Right now we are trying to develop a more extensive Meals on Wheels service in Ayer’s Cliff,” added Ms. LaBonté. The CAB would also like to offer more preventive programs dealing

with exercise and nutrition for seniors. “We are trying to support vulnerable seniors who live alone and the two main reasons that seniors end up in the hospital is due to falls or poor nutrition.”

The main organizers of the successful tournament were committee members Robert and Gisele Galazzo, Arthur and Diane Lapenna, André Gaulin, Denis Parent, and volunteers Lynn Wood and Wayne Smith.
