TheAustin W.I. met on Wed­nes­day July 11th at the home of Patti Car­riere in Ma­gog. Pres­i­dent Debi Bonn opened at 1 p.m. with all recit­ing the M.S. Col­lect & salute to the Cana­dian Flag plus many thanks to Patti for host­ing the meet­ing. Motto: Diplo­macy at one time con­sisted of giv­ing a hand with­out giv­ing a hand­out! Roll call: Who would you like to see as our Prime Min­is­ter? It was an­swered by 10 mem­bers. Min­utes from the June meet­ing were read by Liz Good­win and ap­proved. Trea­surer Betty Telford re­ported that the fundraiser in Austin had proved to be very suc­cess­ful. ON be­half of the W.I., we want to thank the town of Austin and all who were in­volved in any way. Ev­ery­one’s co-op­er­a­tion was very much ap­pre­ci­ated. There were no birthday girls this month but Au­gust 24th will be the 100th birthday of Eve­lyn Jack­son. She has once again changed her place of res­i­dence as fol­lows: Eve­lyn Buzzell Jack­son c/o The Con­naught Home, 77 Main St. 2nd Floor, North Hat­ley, QC J0B 2C0 Tele­phone in her room: 819-842-2483. Plans for her cel­e­bra­tion were dis­cuss at our Au­gust meet­ing, which took place at the home of Debi Bonn on chemin Viens on Wed­nes­day Au­gust 8th at 1 p.m. R.C. was Name restau­rants or in­dus­tries opened or closed dur­ing this past year. Fol­low­ing this meet­ing and the say­ing of the W.I. Grace, we were treated to a de­li­cious tea of sand­wiches, veg­gies with dip, squares and fruit which was much en­joyed.
