Illnesses: None reported at the reunion but Tom McGovern, Patricia (Thayer’s) husband has had a serious heart condition and is having to be careful now to not overdo! There were several from Ontario present at the reunion this year. Ross Thayer, Howard Thayer’s son and his son Michael were here from Scarborough, Ontario. Ross and his daughter, Selina had come previously to attend his uncle, Allen Whitcher’s funeral. Bill and Nada (Webb),Neil from Belleville, Ontario. Ernie and Stanley are sons of Ernest Thayer who lived many years in South Bolton working at Colt Randall’s bobbin mill. The oldest Thayer present was Alice (Thayer) Whitcher. A special announcement was given by Ross Thayer that his daughter, Julia Frances, will be singing at Carnegie Hall sometime between now and the next Thayer reunion but he did not have an actual date. This business part of the afternoon adjourned, and then a drawing for numerous door prizes which were heaped upon one table was enjoyed. Most of the older children and adults went home with one. There had been a variety of toys also for the younger children to choose from. The water of the pond had enticed some of them to take a dip!! The reunion ended with everyone gathering up their dishes and/or leftover food while chatting with one another before saying “Good-bye! See you next August, if not before!” Anyone who has an announcement of any kind between now and next August can contact Ernie via email, phone or mail and he will put it in the newsletter which is usually sent to remind folks of the reunion date or if enough to make a between letter possible, just to keep in touch. Next year’s reunion will again be held next August 5th at Fairmount Campgrounds. We thanked Ernie and the other officers; also for everyone who came making this the largest Thayer gathering for the last several years - 57 people!! With the sound of “safe trip home to all“, the group seemed to quickly vanish.
