Townshippers’ Association President Gerald R. Cutting released the following statement on the results of Tuesday’s provincial election in Quebec. “On behalf of the Townshippers’ Association I would like to congratulate Mme. Pauline Marois as she becomes Quebec’s first female Premier, making Quebec the fourth Canadian province to elect a woman to the premiership. A proud moment in history for all Quebecers.”

“However with only 32% of the popular vote to her credit, it does present a unique opportunity for her to lead by focusing her policies on the real preoccupations of the majority , which are, economic development, job creation, health care and debt reduction. “

“The time for the politics of division and confrontation will not lead us into greater prosperity but, by working together, we will always accomplish more then by working against each other.”
