Grieving families targeted by fraudsters

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEFS - Victoria Vanier

Revenu Quebec would like people to be vigilant, especially if they live in the Estrie region, where many cases of fraud involving false Revenu Quebec documents have been reported. Documents that appear to come from Revenu Quebec are sent to families where someone has recently died, asking for money to pay the overdue income taxes of the deceased. They are then asked to send the money to a postal box. According to Revenu Quebec, overdue accounts are never collected in this manner. If you think you have received one of these fake Revenu Quebec letters, please contact either the Sureté du Quebec or Revenu Quebec.
