Community Sup­per for teens Thurs­day

Ac­tiv­i­ties­for teens have re­sumed at the Stanstead Re­cre­ation and Cul­ture Cen­tre and a spe­cial sup­per will be held there to­mor­row night, at 5:30 pm, to kick off the year.

“Phelps Helps” is the home­work pro­gram be­ing run by Katie Lowry ev­ery Mon­day and Thurs­day evening from 5:00 pm to 6:15 pm. It is tar­geted at grades 7 and 8, how­ever, all ages are wel­come. “On Mon­day I had seven girls from grades 7 to 11,” com­mented Ms. Lowry who added that the aim of the pro­gram is not only to help with home­work, but also to “en­rich over­all the ed­u­ca­tional ex­pe­ri­ence. It is not only a place where strug­gling students find help, but an en­gag­ing ed­u­ca­tional en­vi­ron­ment where students chal­lenge them­selves or dis­cuss aca­demic goals and ideas.”
