Hatley - Stanstead Women’s Institute
Aftera nice hot summer, fall is setting in and The Hatley - Stanstead Women›s Institute met at the home of Mel and Phyl Dustin on September 6th. 2012. The hostesses served Cherry cheese cake, angel cake and non-sweetened ginger cake. Phyllis welcomed everyone and voiced birthday wishes to those celebrating birthdays in August and September (Velma & Jackie)
The Motto for September: One who thinks by the inch, talks by the yard, needs to be moved by the foot. Roll Call was answered by nine members naming their favourite Fairy Tale, as treasurer Velma collected our monies. Minutes of the last meeting were read by secretary Barb Hewitt. Velma Eryou submitted the treasurer›s report, showing a favourable balance. A donation was made to Maple Hill Cemetery in memory of Elane Wilson. A lovely note was received and read from Scotty Miller. Summer Issue of the Quebec Women›s Institute Newsletter was handed out. Reflections on the tea room were heard and at the most it was a very successful day. Barb Hewitt was in charge of our Quebec Women›s Institute Handicraft Competition. Our Exhibit was well presented and tied for first place in the Ladies Department at the Ayer›s Cliff Fair. Barb handed the items back to those who made them. Time was spent planning the County meeting in October. Committee reports were from Jean Cass on the proper way to plant daffodils. Elvera spoke on Education, saying school was in full swing. Our next meeting will be held in Hatley on October 4th.
