Runners descend on Mt. Orford this Saturday
Canada’s most popular trail footrace, the Xtrail Asics of Mont Orford, is taking place this Saturday, October 13th, in the beautiful Parc National du Mont Orford. In 2011, this event was also voted one of the ten most beautiful races to take part in, in Canada, by the prestigious magazine
Canadian Running. More than 1,700 athletes from all over the province and also from other parts of Canada, the United States and Europe, will all be competing in this event. With a variety of levels, the 21K, 10K, 5K and the 1K for children, it’s no wonder the event has been full for almost nine weeks!
For this fifth edition, many surprises are in store for the participants such as free pairs of running shoe gators provided by Asics and Boutique le Coureur, food and refreshments offered by IGA Gazaille
de Magog, live music with the Bad Boys, medals for all the participants, free massage therapy and physiotherapy, free games for children, and an after-race party.
Both the 10K and the 21K races have been modified so that the racers can reach the summit but finish their races at the bottom of the mountain where there are more spectators.
Spectators can enjoy the races from several different locations in the park such as at the summit of the mountain which will be accessible by gondola for a fee.
More than one hundred volunteers make this event possible.
