Stanstead Strategic Planning
Since 2011, the Town of Stanstead has held numerous public consultations among the population and the local leaders as to hear their opinion and to identify the strengths of the Town as well as areas requiring improvement.
Numerous ideas have come about in these successful meetings and the Town is now ready to pursue the work by developing a strategic plan in order to determine the policies and actions that will need to be undertaken over the next five years. It will look at subjects such as economic and social development, quality of life, education, as well as health and tourism development.
The strategic plan will also be useful in the Town’s application to receive the VillageRelais accreditation from the Ministère des Transports du Québec.
In the coming days, Ms. Hélène Hamel, Project Manager for the VillageRelais program and Ms. Joanne LajeunesseMcKay, Stanstead Local Business Development Agent of the CLD Memphrémagog, will meet hundreds of people of all ages, both English and French, in order to understand what they expect from the community.
Focus groups will be held directly in the homes of some citizens, who will be asked to invite family, friends and neighbors to join the dialogue.
«It is essential for us to visit people in their environment to make everyone feel at ease so that they can exchange their points of view in a friendly environment», says Ms. LajeunesseMcKay.
Also, in order to hear the voice of our youth, often not present during public consultations, Misses Hamel and LajeunesseMcKay will go directly in their schools, notably La Ruche and Alexander Galt high schools. Similarly, consultations will take place in the form of focus groups.
Subsequently, a vast public consultation will be sent to every household. The information gathered during the initial consultation will serve as a prelude to this second phase.
For more information or to show your interest in participating in focus groups, citizens are asked to communicate with Ms. Hélène Hamel at 8197040770.
