Big fine for Magog car surfers

Stanstead Journal - - FORUM - Magog

Lastweek, the Regie de police Memphremagog received numerous phonecalls reporting that someone was driving a car around the parking lot of La Ruche high school while a person ‘car-surfed’ on its hood. The driver and the car surfer, aged nineteen and eighteen, were identified and each received a fine of $1,260 and had their licenses suspended for seven days.

The fine for this extremely dangerous activity was increased a few years ago from $30 to $1000 to dissuade people from doing it after it became popular. Many people who tried it were badly hurt, sometimes with fatal injuries as was the case for a young Magog man.
