Tough Week­end for Gaiter Teams

It­was a tough week­end for Gaiter teams as the men’s rugby year came to an end with a semi-fi­nal loss to McGill; the women’s hockey team went 0-4 in a tour­na­ment they hosted and the men’s and women’s bas­ket­ball teams trav­elled to Montreal to open their sea­son only to have the games post­poned.

The men’s rugby squad was over­pow­ered by the McGill Red­men in an RSEQ semi-fi­nal held at Bishop’s on Sun­day, Novem­ber 11. McGill scored early and of­ten en route to a 76-15 vic­tory. They move onto play the Con­cor­dia Stingers in the fi­nal next Sun­day. The loss brings the Gaiters sea­son to a close. They posted a 5-3 reg­u­lar sea­son record, fin­ish­ing in sec­ond place in the league.

arena the women’s hockey tour­na­ment where they played four games. They fell 4-0 to Cape Bre­ton on Satur­day af­ter­noon and 2-0 to Aca­dia at night. On Sun­day they opened up with a 2-0 loss to the Univer­sity of New Brunswick and then lost 7-0 to a Corn­wall Midget AA team later in the day.

The men’s and women’s bas­ket­ball squads trav­elled to Montreal on Satur­day night to open their sea­son against the UQAM Ci­tadins how­ever the games had to be post­poned due to a sched­ul­ing er­ror.
