Ride with Rudolph – you could save a life!
Despite the fact that Magog’s Nez Rouge service has begun operating, four drivers were arrested by the Regie de police de Memphremagog (RPM) over the weekend. Among the four men aged between 26 and 53, two recorded an alcohol level more than 80 mg, one of those being more than twice the legal limit while the other was more than three times the legal limit. The latter driver, a man from Ste-Catherine de Hatley, missed a curve along Magog Road and hit a container and a concrete block in a private driveway. A fire broke out in his vehicle and the resident of the home put it out with an extinguisher. The driver suffered minor injuries but refused help from the paramedics who arrived on the scene. Besides the criminal accusations that will be levelled against them, all of the drivers saw their driving permits suspended for 90 days while two of the drivers had their vehicles seized for 30 days also.
