Leg­endary icons share stage for MWFY ben­e­fit

On Jan­uary 31, 2013, the mu­si­cal per­for­mance “Honky Tonk Blue… The Night Patsy Met Hank” will in­ter­rupt its cross-pro­vin­cial tour for an ex­clu­sive en­gage­ment at the Cen­tre d’Art de Rich­mond to ben­e­fit the Make Way for YOUth (MWFY) project.

Writer and ac­tor Laura Teas­dale’s stun­ning mu­si­cal rewrites his­tory, imag­ing a fate­ful meet­ing be­tween a young Patsy Cline (played by Teas­dale), just be­gin­ning her climb to­ward be­com­ing the queen of coun­try mu­sic and coun­try’s bro­ken king, Hank Wil­liams (Ralph Steiner), just days be­fore his death. Bring­ing Youth to the Town­ships Of­fered through Town­ship­pers’ As­so­ci­a­tion, Make Way For YOUth – Estrie is part of the part of the Place aux je­unes en ré­gion ini­tia­tive to counter youth ex­o­dus and en­cour­age qual­i­fied young pro­fes­sion­als to mi­grate and set­tle in ar­eas out­side of Que­bec’s large city cen­tres.

Pro­ceeds from the ben­e­fit per­for­mance will help MWFY to ful­fill its mis­sion and of­fer a va­ri­ety of ser­vices for young, post-sec­ondary stu­dents and/or grad­u­ates, such as free Dis­cov­ery Days ex­ploratory week­ends, per­son­al­ized and in­di­vid­ual sup­port ser­vices and free ac­cess to web­sites and bul­letins with lo­cal job of­fers.

Per­formed to sev­eral sold-out venues, this one-night only mu­si­cal fea­tur­ing love, laugh­ter and leg­endary mu­sic , will be pre­formed to an in­ti­mate crowd of 200 at the Cen­tre d’Art de Rich­mond, 1010 Rue Prin­ci­pale, Rich­mond.

Thanks to the English Lan­guage Arts Net­work’s AC­CORD Project, and spon­sors Cen­tre d’Art de Rich­mond, Mu­nic­i­pal­ité du Can­ton de Mel­bourne and Toy­ota Rich­mond, tick­ets have been gen­er­ously un­der­writ­ten at a cost of $25 adult and $20 stu­dent and in­clude a pre-show wine and cheese at 6 p.m. Cur­tain rises at 7 p.m.
