Hunters get their prizes
The Tomifobia Valley Conservation Fish & Game Club, of Stanstead, held its annual Big Buck Contest at the Stanstead Legion Hall last Sunday afternoon. Over $1000 in prizes were given out to some of the best, or luckiest, hunters in the area.
The winner for the largest buck was Gerry Doherty who took down an 8-pointer weighing 236.2 pounds. Second place went to Larry Hibbard who shot an 8-pointer weighing 170.4 pounds. Dennis Mann took third place with a 6-pointer at 165 pounds. Neil Lazenby shot the heaviest doe by a man at 140.2 pounds while Sylvie Bergeron shot the heaviest doe which weighed in at 123.2 pounds. The prize for the biggest male shot by an intermediate hunter between 16 and 20 years of age went to Jacob Dubois for a 5-pointer weighing 188 pounds. Jacob Dupré won the junior category for hunters between the ages of 12 to 15, shooting a doe weighing 100 pounds.
This year the Tomifobia Valley Conservation Fish & Game Club is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
