Hunters get their prizes

The Tomi­fo­bia Val­ley Con­ser­va­tion Fish & Game Club, of Stanstead, held its an­nual Big Buck Con­test at the Stanstead Le­gion Hall last Sun­day af­ter­noon. Over $1000 in prizes were given out to some of the best, or luck­i­est, hunters in the area.

The win­ner for the largest buck was Gerry Do­herty who took down an 8-pointer weigh­ing 236.2 pounds. Sec­ond place went to Larry Hib­bard who shot an 8-pointer weigh­ing 170.4 pounds. Dennis Mann took third place with a 6-pointer at 165 pounds. Neil Lazenby shot the heav­i­est doe by a man at 140.2 pounds while Sylvie Berg­eron shot the heav­i­est doe which weighed in at 123.2 pounds. The prize for the big­gest male shot by an in­ter­me­di­ate hunter be­tween 16 and 20 years of age went to Ja­cob Dubois for a 5-pointer weigh­ing 188 pounds. Ja­cob Dupré won the ju­nior cat­e­gory for hunters be­tween the ages of 12 to 15, shoot­ing a doe weigh­ing 100 pounds.

This year the Tomi­fo­bia Val­ley Con­ser­va­tion Fish & Game Club is cel­e­brat­ing its 30th an­niver­sary.
