Research Centre gets new Director
Dr. Marek Rola-Pleszczynski has been nominated as the new scientific director of the CHUS’ Centre de recherche Clinique Etienne-Le Bel (CRCELB). He began acting as the director on January 7th and will remain in the position for one year.
A renowned researcher who graduated from the Université de Sherbrooke and has worked at the CHUS since 1976, Dr. Rola-Pleszczynski understands administrative managing in the field of fundamental and clinical research. An important researcher of pain and inflammation, Dr. Rola-Pleszczynski was the scientific director of the CRCELB from 1993 to 2001. Between 2002 and 2008, Dr. Rola-Pleszczynski directed the Canadian Research Chair on inflammation. He has also received several honours during his career, such as the Prix d’excellence de la recherche medicale from the CHUS Foundation, the Prix Etienne Le Bel from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Prix Michel Sarrazin for bio-medical research.
The previous director of the Research Centre was Dr. Serge Marchand, who finished his term in December. Dr. Marchand will return to his dynamic career as a researcher and a professor.
