Re­search Cen­tre gets new Di­rec­tor

Dr. Marek Rola-Pleszczyn­ski has been nom­i­nated as the new sci­en­tific di­rec­tor of the CHUS’ Cen­tre de recherche Clin­ique Eti­enne-Le Bel (CRCELB). He be­gan act­ing as the di­rec­tor on Jan­uary 7th and will re­main in the po­si­tion for one year.

A renowned re­searcher who grad­u­ated from the Univer­sité de Sher­brooke and has worked at the CHUS since 1976, Dr. Rola-Pleszczyn­ski un­der­stands ad­min­is­tra­tive man­ag­ing in the field of fun­da­men­tal and clin­i­cal re­search. An im­por­tant re­searcher of pain and in­flam­ma­tion, Dr. Rola-Pleszczyn­ski was the sci­en­tific di­rec­tor of the CRCELB from 1993 to 2001. Be­tween 2002 and 2008, Dr. Rola-Pleszczyn­ski di­rected the Cana­dian Re­search Chair on in­flam­ma­tion. He has also re­ceived sev­eral hon­ours dur­ing his ca­reer, such as the Prix d’ex­cel­lence de la recherche med­i­cale from the CHUS Foun­da­tion, the Prix Eti­enne Le Bel from the Fac­ulty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Prix Michel Sar­razin for bio-med­i­cal re­search.

The pre­vi­ous di­rec­tor of the Re­search Cen­tre was Dr. Serge Marc­hand, who fin­ished his term in De­cem­ber. Dr. Marc­hand will re­turn to his dy­namic ca­reer as a re­searcher and a pro­fes­sor.
