Dangerous roads last weekend

Stanstead Journal - - FORUM - Victoria Vanier

Last weekend, snowy and windy conditions made driving difficult in the region, leading to several accidents. On the territory of the Regie de police de Memphremagog seven vehicles went off the road but no-one was seriously injured. However, there was a serious accident on Saturday, January 5th at 10:20 am. In a head-on collision on Magog Street in Ste-Catherine-de-Hatley, three people were hurt: two men and one woman. One of the victims remains in stable condition after receiving a severe head injury. The loss of control on the slippery road in a curve in the road was the cause of the accident.

On Saturday afternoon at around 1:45, an 86 year-old Magog woman was hit by a car when crossing Chenier Street. The driver had his or her vision obstructed by another vehicle and didn’t see the woman. The extent of her injuries was not reported by the police.
