Couillard gets support from local MNA
Orford MNA Pierre Reid has thrown his support behind former Health Minister Philippe Couillard in his run for the leadership of the Quebec Liberal Party. “Before I announced my decision, I wanted the members of our association to make their decisions without knowing mine. They had all the latitude and time needed to reflect on their decision without being influenced by mine. And I know that at the heart of the Orford Liberal Association, much of the support is going to Raymond Bachand, Philippe Couillard and Pierre Moreau. That’s what healthy democracy looks like,” explained Mr. Reid.
Considering that the three main candidates possess the qualities needed to direct the Quebec Liberal Party and eventually become premier of Quebec, Pierre Reid commented that he would not have any difficulty working beside the candidate who receives the majority of support from the delegates in this race.
“It’s really agonizing to make a choice,” added the Orford deputy. “Having had the privilege of sitting with Philippe Couillard on the Conseil des ministres when he was the Health and Social Services Minister and I was the Minister of Education, working on ministerial committees at his side, I was able to see his many personal qualities while at the heart of the action. That is why I favour the candidacy of Philippe Couillard. In my opinion, it is nevertheless clear that the race for the leadership of the Quebec Liberal Party has brought out exceptional candidates.”
