Fore­man Art Gallery and Cin­ema Po­lit­ica Bishop’s Univer­sity present an evening with film­maker Ala­nis Obom­sawin, hosted at la salle Le Trem­plin (95 Welling­ton Sud, Sher­brooke). A screen­ing of Wa­ban-Aki: Peo­ple from Where the Sun Rises (2006, 104 min) will be fol­lowed by a dis­cus­sion with the film­maker.

Ala­nis Obom­sawin, a mem­ber of the Abe­naki Na­tion, is one of Canada’s most distin­guished film­mak­ers. For over four decades, she has di­rected doc­u­men­taries at the Na­tional Film Board of Canada that chron­i­cle the lives and con­cerns of... First Na­tions peo­ple and ex­plore is­sues of im­por­tance to all. The film will be pre­sented in French, with English sub­ti­tles. The event is free to the pub­lic.
