Two Spartans make NHL Draft list
TwoStanstead College hockey players, Alexandre Coulombe and Nicolas Beaudin, have made the NHL Central Scouting’s mid-term rankings of North American skaters for the 2013 draft. Alexandre, a native of Granby, is listed at number 91 among North American skaters while Nicolas, from St. Bruno, is ranked at number 209. The defenseman has six goals and fifteen assists to date this season. Nicolas is in his second year in a Spartan uniform and is the team’s leading goal scorer with 21 goals and 16 assists in 35 outings. At 6’ and 170 pounds, Nicolas was named the MVP forward at the end of the tournament played over the weekend. He is also the alternate captain of the team.
The top 210 skaters and 35 goalies in North America are featured in this midseason ranking, as well as players from Europe. Last year’s NHL prospect from Stanstead College, Mark Jankowski, entered the Central Scouting ranking at number 74 and was eventually drafted in the first round by the Calgary Flames.
