Fun fundraiser for fire victims
ago,” admitted Barbara Heath of the who added: “Jane and Tyler were displaced for almost a year and had to live in a camper. Now they have costs not expected for some of the repairs, things the insurance won’t cover.”
“Part way through the lunch we’ll start the bidding,” continued Mrs. Heath. Stanstead’s Gerry Smith has agreed to be the auctioneer for the Chinese Auction which sounds like a lot of fun. The bidders make bids ten cents at a time, dropping their dimes into jars each time they bid. “The tinkling sound of the dimes falling into the glass jars adds to the fun. We have a time-keeper who keeps her back to the audience and when she calls out ‘Time’, then whoever has just made a bid wins the item,” Mrs. Heath explained.
There will be lots of items, all new, to bid on including some paintings, dishes and toys. “There will be a little bit of everything.” People can still donate items, as long as they haven’t been used at all, for the auction by calling Gerry Smith at 819 876-2184. Mr. Smith will even pick up your item if needed.
The entrance fee to the event is a suggested donation and everyone is welcome. Being served during the ‘Tea’ will be tea and coffee, sandwiches, vegetable and cheese plates, homemade desserts and juice and hot cocoa for the children.
