Dany does it again!
After being considered the ‘underdog’ in one of the new TVA show La Voix’s first ‘duo’ competitions, piano man Dany Flanders, a native of Stanstead, impressed the judges once again and was chosen to move on in the competition. He sang a duet with Rick Hughes, opting to bring his piano on stage, and beat out that singer who was eliminated from the competition. “That show was taped on January 22nd,
but I lived through it again last night when we watched it; we were both fighting for our lives in that one!” said Dany from his home in Florida.
Since Dany does live in Florida, he is experiencing the competition a little differently than the other contestants, many of whom he has gotten to know through all the tapings. “Besides the phonecalls I’ve gotten from the magazines and newspapers, I’m isolated a little from the show here in Florida. Some of the other contestants say that it takes thirty minutes longer just to buy a few groceries because people keep recognizing them.”
“And you can feel the competition getting tighter, the stress level going up. There’s a lot at stake and now, with all the visibility… It’s hard especially for the younger contestants. There’s lots of pressure and you really have to master your nerves,” commented the singer, adding: “I haven’t had any bouts of nervousness; I’ve been preparing for this show for thirty years!”
The duos will continue for a couple of weeks each Sunday night on La
Voix, and after half of the contestants have been eliminated, the live competitions, which feature public voting, will start in March.
“I’ve had a lot of nice words from people back in Stanstead – I’m getting lots of support. I’m going to do the best I can to represent our little town!”
