Stanstead Journal - - NEWS -

Because it was School Perseverance Week from February 11th to the 15th, the Caisse Desjardins du Lac-Memphremagog would like to highlight the many ways it gets involved with the region’s youth. In 2012, the Caisse gave financial support to the Fondation Christian Vachon, the

Cirque des etoiles Memphremagog, the Conciliation etudes-travail program, and several other initiatives thast foster the development of local youth. In total, more than $25,000 was invested by the Caisse to promote school perseverance.

During the Caisse’s Semaine cooperation, two school projects were realized: the covering of the library books at Ecole Saint Pie-X and the repairing of the picnic tables at Ayer’s Cliff Elementary School. The Desjardins Jeunes au travail program, managed with the Carrefour jeunesse

emploi Memphremagog, helped ten teens without experience to find their first job. Besides the work experience they acquired, they also learnt about budget management and developed their financial knowledge.

These young people, seen here in the company of Manon Bernard, Caisse Desjardins du Lac-Memphremagog youth counsellor, are studying at the college, university or vocational level and received bursaries from the financial institution.
