Pipers Capture BCS Tournament
TheAlexander Galt Bantam Girls B Basketball Team won the Bishop’s College School Invitational Tournament this past weekend and did it dramatic fashion. The tournament featured twelve girls’ teams from around the province as coaches Jarrod Sharman and Tara McCully had their girls in fine form on and off the court throughout the weekend.
The Pipers opened up the tournament with the host team and defeated the girls from BCS 24-10. In their second game the girls from Galt defeated West Island College in convincing fashion 40-15. The young Galt cagers took on Stanstead College in the semi finals and defeated the Spartans 20-13 to advance to the Championship game St. George’s from Montreal. The Pipers found themselves down at half time, but they found a lot of heart and determination in second half and came back to win the game 17-11 and capture the gold medal as their parents, grand parents and friends cheered them on to victory.
Cassandra Palmer was named to the All-star team while her twin-sister; Kaitlyn Palmer was named the tournaments Most Valuable Player for fine offensive and defensive play and several clutch baskets down the stretch.
Special thank you to BCS and tournament organizer Jeff Bray for inviting Galt to the classy and friendly tournament.
