AAESQ Tour­na­ment

Her­itageHigh School was crowned 2013 AAESQ Gra­ham Neil Pro­vin­cial Hockey cham­pi­ons Fri­day, de­feat­ing lo­cal team Bishop’s Col­lege School in the fi­nal at the Pat Burns Arena in Stanstead.

Her­itage beat BCS 5-4 in over­time. Her­itage had a 4-2 lead at one point be­fore BCS tied the game in the fi­nal sec­onds with the goalie pulled. Her­itage went on to score the win­ner in over­time.

Sean Camp­bell of Her­itage was named tour­na­ment MVP, while in­di­vid­ual team all-stars were goalie Rhys Davies for Stanstead Col­lege’s Ju­nior Var­sity Spar­tans, Nick Sam­son for Alexan­der Galt, Gabriel Aucoin for BCS, Ross Per­sons for Massey-Vanier, Tris­tan Sa­ba­tini for Her­itage and Liam Rourke for Loy­ola Academy.

The Ju­nior Var­sity Spar­tans had a good run at the tour­na­ment, win­ning their first game in a come­back against Galt 5-4 and de­feat­ing Loy­ola 3-1 in game 2. In their semi-fi­nal game, the Spar­tans fell to Her­itage 3-2 in over­time, and, in their third-place game lost 4-3 to Loy­ola.

Tour­na­ment name­sake Gra­ham Neil was on hand Fri­day to present the awards.

The tour­na­ment opened with a trib­ute to honorary chair­man Al­bert MacDon­ald, long­time teacher and coach at BCS and a ma­jor sup­porter of

the AAESQ tour­na­ments over the years.
