Austin W.I. St. Patrick’s Meeting
TheAustin W.I. met on March 13th at the home of Patti Carriere which was beautifully decorated with everything green and Irish. Patti was thanked for sharing her home and also chairing the meeting which she opened at 1 p.m. with all reciting the M.S. Collect and the salute to the Canadian flag. MOTTO: May all your days be filled to the brim with Irish cheer. Roll call was the wearing of the green and Irish humour and was well answered by 8 members with plenty of laughter. The minutes of the February meeting were read and the treasurer’s report was given – all were approved. Debi Bonn had brought a ‘bank’ to collect coins to help purchase medical supplies form Third World Country and all members present have been and will continue to drop in ‘loose change’ in all denominations. Plans were discussed re our Semi-Annual Brome County Convention as this branch will be hosting this year. It will take place at the Austin town hall on Thursday, April 25th. The monthly drawing was won by Liz Goodwin. Next month to be furnished by Lise Desbois. The Birthday girls were Bea Juby – March 4th and Patti Carriere – March 17th. Following the W.I. Grace we were treated to a fabulous Irish tea of veggies with dip, 3 kinds of sandwiches (including crème cheese with green cherries) and squares. Patti had even baked a wonderful birthday cake for the two of them. Everything was delicious and she was much thanked by all. we would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who called, brought food, gave cards, flowers and who attended the visitation and funeral service. Also to those who donated to the Palliative Care Unit of the Memphremagog Hospital our mother’s memory. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Masse and the nursing staff of the 4th floor as well as the Palliative Care Unit of the Magog hospital for the wonderful care given to our mother. To Dr. Monique Jobin for her many years of compassion and understanding. To our colleagues and employers for their constant support during our mother’s illness and death. To Leslie and Janie Webster at Cass for all their help and direction with everything. Our utmost sincere thanks to Rev. Lise Kuzminska for the wonderful service and especially to our aunt, Marion Dupuis, for her precious words. Lastly, to Debbie Shelden and the ladies, and those who helped with food, who did a great job on the lovely luncheon that was served. Your kind words and actions will never be forgotten. and families – Passed away at the C.S.S.S. Memphremagog on Tuesday, March 5th, 2013, at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late George Cronin and loving mother of Diane (Leo Paul), Pauline, Carole (Maurice) and Madeleine (Gérald). Cherished grandmother of Daniel, Michèle Lagueux, Maryse and Joanne Distéfano and Jennifer Young. Great grandmother of Léa, Enya, Antoyne, Chloe, Tommy, Lyana and Liam. Dear sister of the late Beatrice (the late Jean Paul Garneau), the late Dorothée (the late Henri Blouin), the late Thérèsa (the late Joseph Simoneu) and her brother Arvelin Duquette. Irene will also be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Rita (the late Olivier Cronin) Jeanne-D’Arc Roy (the late Jean Paul Garneau), along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Resting at the
Cass Funeral Home 545 Dufferin, Stanstead where friends and family may come to visit on Friday, March 22nd, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. also on March 23rd from 9 until 10:40 a.m. followed by the service in Ste. Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Mont Ste. Marie at a later date. As a tribute to her memory, donations made to Parkinson Society Canada, 4211 Yonge Street, Suite 316, Toronto, Ontario, M2P 2A9 would be greatly appreciated by the family.
