Austin W.I. St. Pa­trick’s Meet­ing

TheAustin W.I. met on March 13th at the home of Patti Car­riere which was beau­ti­fully dec­o­rated with ev­ery­thing green and Ir­ish. Patti was thanked for shar­ing her home and also chair­ing the meet­ing which she opened at 1 p.m. with all recit­ing the M.S. Col­lect and the salute to the Cana­dian flag. MOTTO: May all your days be filled to the brim with Ir­ish cheer. Roll call was the wear­ing of the green and Ir­ish hu­mour and was well an­swered by 8 mem­bers with plenty of laugh­ter. The min­utes of the Fe­bru­ary meet­ing were read and the trea­surer’s report was given – all were ap­proved. Debi Bonn had brought a ‘bank’ to col­lect coins to help pur­chase med­i­cal sup­plies form Third World Coun­try and all mem­bers present have been and will con­tinue to drop in ‘loose change’ in all de­nom­i­na­tions. Plans were dis­cussed re our Semi-An­nual Brome County Con­ven­tion as this branch will be host­ing this year. It will take place at the Austin town hall on Thurs­day, April 25th. The monthly draw­ing was won by Liz Good­win. Next month to be fur­nished by Lise Des­bois. The Birth­day girls were Bea Juby – March 4th and Patti Car­riere – March 17th. Fol­low­ing the W.I. Grace we were treated to a fab­u­lous Ir­ish tea of veg­gies with dip, 3 kinds of sand­wiches (in­clud­ing crème cheese with green cher­ries) and squares. Patti had even baked a won­der­ful birth­day cake for the two of them. Ev­ery­thing was de­li­cious and she was much thanked by all. The April 10th meet­ing will take place at the present home of Betty Telford with co-host Lise Des­bois. Ad­dress: Le Havre des Can­tons, 231 Dol­lard St. Apt. 338, Ma­gog. Time: 1 p.m. R. Also to those who do­nated to the Pal­lia­tive Care Unit of the Mem­phrem­a­gog Hospi­tal our mother’s me­mory. Spe­cial thanks to Dr. Robert Masse and the nurs­ing staff of the 4th floor as well as the Pal­lia­tive Care Unit of the Ma­gog hospi­tal for the won­der­ful care given to our mother. To Dr. Monique Jobin for her many years of com­pas­sion and un­der­stand­ing. To our col­leagues and em­ploy­ers for their con­stant sup­port dur­ing our mother’s ill­ness and death. To Les­lie and Janie Web­ster at Cass for all their help and di­rec­tion with ev­ery­thing. Our ut­most sin­cere thanks to Rev. Beloved wife of the late Ge­orge Cronin and lov­ing mother of Diane (Leo Paul), Pauline, Ca­role (Mau­rice) and Madeleine (Gérald). Cher­ished grand­mother of Daniel, Michèle Lagueux, Maryse and Joanne Disté­fano and Jen­nifer Young. Great grand­mother of Léa, Enya, An­toyne, Chloe, Tommy, Lyana and Liam. Dear sis­ter of the late Beatrice (the late Jean Paul Garneau), the late Dorothée (the late Henri Blouin), the late Thérèsa (the late Joseph Si­moneu) and her brother Arvelin Du­quette. Irene will also be sadly missed by her sis­ters-in-law Rita (the late Olivier Cronin) Jeanne-D’Arc Roy (the late Jean Paul Garneau), along with many nieces, neph­ews, other rel­a­tives and many friends.
