Health Clinic meeting moves to Legion
After learning that a lot of people are planning to attend this Saturday’s meeting to discuss a Health Clinic in Ayer’s Cliff, members of the committee studying the issue have changed the location from the Ayer’s Cliff Town Hall to the Ayer’s Cliff Legion, located at 176 Rosedale. It will still take place between 10:00 am and noon.
The meeting will be facilitated by Serge Audet and all the committee members will be on hand. “We have been researching this for more than a year now, looking at the background and the needs of the population. Before going further, we want to ask the population what kind of a health centre they want, not just regarding which business model, but also what services they want offered,” explained Dian Cohen who chairs the committee.
Ms. Cohen explained why Ayer’s Cliff would benefit from a health clinic: “We are quite far from the hospitals so there is a huge need in the area. Between Magog and Coaticook there are 3000 people without a family doctor. Although the population is aging and old people are living longer, we also have young people with children moving in. Ayer’s cliff is growing.”
The other members of the committee include: mayor Alex van Zuiden;
Uniprix-Santé owner and pharmacist Benoit Lemieux; Carole Mooney, vice-president of the Lampe Foundation; and businessman Gabriele Paliotti.
