Stanstead special meeting held to speed up new construction
Proofthat sometimes Stanstead welcomes investment was shown, last Monday, as council held an extraordinary meeting to sell a piece of land in the industrial park to a numbered company that should start constructing an industrial motel in the next few weeks. A numbered company, owned by Ashton Herring of Hatley, has promised to build a three unit building on the lot in front of Granit Design as soon as the sale of the land, for a value of $50,000, goes through.
While in a real estate mode, council also promised to buy, on behalf of the Coop d’Habitation, a sliver of land owned by Stanstead College for $20,000.
And the town will spend over $20,000 for a geological survey to find water that conforms to the new Quebec specifications. The site chosen is behind the Videotron cell phone tower.
