Stanstead spe­cial meet­ing held to speed up new con­struc­tion

Proofthat some­times Stanstead wel­comes in­vest­ment was shown, last Mon­day, as coun­cil held an ex­tra­or­di­nary meet­ing to sell a piece of land in the in­dus­trial park to a num­bered com­pany that should start con­struct­ing an in­dus­trial mo­tel in the next few weeks. A num­bered com­pany, owned by Ash­ton Her­ring of Hat­ley, has promised to build a three unit build­ing on the lot in front of Granit De­sign as soon as the sale of the land, for a value of $50,000, goes through.

While in a real es­tate mode, coun­cil also promised to buy, on be­half of the Coop d’Habi­ta­tion, a sliver of land owned by Stanstead Col­lege for $20,000.

And the town will spend over $20,000 for a ge­o­log­i­cal sur­vey to find water that con­forms to the new Que­bec spec­i­fi­ca­tions. The site cho­sen is be­hind the Videotron cell phone tower.
