Roy makes comeback at historic marathon
Wheelchairathlete Diane Roy, from Hatley, after three months of inactivity as a bone in her leg healed following a fall from her “everyday” wheelchair and only two and a half months of training, made her wheelchair racing comeback at the now historic 117th edition of the Boston Marathon on Monday. Ms. Roy finished in seventh position in her category with a time of 1 h 59 min 37 sec, a few hours before two bombs went off at the finish line, killing two people and injuring more than 170.
Several other runners from the Townships attended the marathon and none were injured. Jean-Paul Compaoré, of Sherbrooke, finished 16th with a time of 1 h 37 min 34 sec.
