Sherbrooke employees receive Jubilee Medals

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS -

In recognition of their efforts in the rebuilding of Haiti, two Sherbrooke employees, Luc Robillard and André Corriveau, both from Sherbrooke’s urban planning office, were awarded Diamond Jubilee Medals on February 28th. Between July 2011 and November 2012, the two men went to Haiti five times, staying for two week intervals to train a team of Haitians in geomatics as part of a program that aims to improve the structure of municipal organizations affected by the 2010 earthquake.

Mr. Robillard and Corriveau taught the principles of geomatics as well as helped to put in place infrastructures and tools to assure the collection of facts. These new competencies acquired by the group of students will allow them to participate in the reinforcement of the municipal structures in the communities of Gressier, Leogagne, Petit-Goave and GrandGoave.
