Volunteer Week celebrated on both sides of border
National Volunteer Week celebrates ordinary people doing extraordinary things to improve communities across the nation. This one week highlights the enormous contributions that volunteers make every day. The volunteers at North Country Hospital are anything but ordinary! They show up rain or shine and work tirelessly to serve the patients and visitors in a multitude of different jobs.
To celebrate National Volunteer Week (April 21-27), North Country Hospital honored its volunteers by presenting Certificates of Appreciation and gifts at a dinner prepared by the Food & Nutrition Department at the hospital. Rhonda Bullis prepared the meal and served along with Ida Davio and Gary Hebert.
Presentations were made by Merrilyn Barry, Director of Volunteers, and words of thanks were extended by VPs Bill Perket and Sheryl Washburn. A moment was taken to recognize the loss of 4 faithful volunteers who died in recent months: Bill & Phyllis Armstrong, Pat Place and Dick Dudley. Thanks were expressed to Elwin Brewer and Win & Lu Hammond who have retired from volunteer duties. They will be missed. What are your skills and interests? There are many ways that you can serve. Just call Merrilyn Barry at 334-3289 and find out about volunteering at North Country Hospital.
