Special Awards Ceremony At Champlain-lennoxville
Therewas a special awards ceremony and luncheon held at Champlain College on April 24th to present the Doris Mildred Parsons Achievement Bursary to a deserving student, Janie Lefebvre, who is studying in Special Care Counselling.
The Doris Parsons Achievement Bursary is a $1500 award given to a second year student studying in the Special Care Counselling program at Champlain College in Lennoxville. The recipient is a student who demonstrates distinction in scholarship, leadership, and dedication. The award is named for a Townships teacher who bequeathed a part of her estate to the Butters Foundation in order to promote student excellence and achievement in the helping profession field of study. The Butters Foundation has been supporting the integration of intellectually impaired persons into the community for more than thirty years. This is the seventh year that the award has been presented to a student at Champlain College. The most deserving student was chosen by the Special Care Counselling faculty members, and the award was presented by Mr. Ron Creary representing the Board of Directors of the Butters Foundation to this year’s recipient, Janie Lefebvre.
