Benefit the Stanstead County Horticultural Society
The 2nd in the series of three card parties was held on April 27th, benefit the Stanstead County Horticultural Society. This was held in the dining hall at the Fair Grounds. Cards were played at 8 tables. Scores were tallied up with Ladies high going to Isabel Nelson and Vye Roy. They each had a score of 5260. Ladies 2nd went to Tara Hamilton (5180). Gents high was won by Denis Corriveau (6120). Gents 2nd went to Jack Kimpton (5900). Skunk prize was won by Alan Bullock. 10 of anything bid went to Debbie Smith.
cont'd page 14 – Of Newport, VT, passed away peacefully on April 24th, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family, in her 79 year. She was born November 3rd, 1933 in Mansonville, Quebec, the daughter of Wallace and Henrietta (Libby) Julien. On February 3rd, 1951 she married Gerard ‘‘John” Lacroix. She attended Ursulines Convent in Stanstead, Quebec. Beatrice enjoyed crafts, painting, knitting, and crocheting. She was very gifted and the most enjoyment to her was cooking and entertaining her family and friends. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, Community Circle, and Cercle Fermiere in Quebec. She is survived by her husband Gerard Lacroix of Newport, VT, by her precious dog, Cuddles who gave her such joy and never left her side, by her children Richard Lacroix and his wife Francine of Beebe, Quebec, and Annette Lantagne and her husband Dennis of Newport, VT. She is also survived by her grandchildren David Lacroix and his Companion Annie of Sherbrooke, Quebec; Rachel Lacroix of Calgary, Canada; Charles Lacroix and his companion Ariane of Levis, Quebec; Crystal Haselton of Boulder, CO; Nathan Haselton of CO; and Katelyn Lantagne of Newport, VT; by her great grandchildren Gabrielle, Elliott, Felix Antoine, Lohann and Beatrice. She is also survived by her siblings Pauline Gilbert of Beebe, Quebec; Irene Royea of Beebe, Quebec; and Murray Julien and his wife Gladys of Nova Scotia; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Wallace, Nelson and Maurice Julien and by Esther Cormer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday May 3rd, 2013 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Derby Line where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Memphremagog on April 20th, 2013 at the age of 87. Also on Monday May 6th from 10 a.m. until 10:50 a.m.. A funeral will be held in the Sacred Heart Church, Stanstead, at 11 a.m. followed by cremation.
