Help Galt Library win Subway contest!
Thanks to students Justine Provencher, Marianne Darby, Lydia Toussain and Shawn Paxton, the Alexander Galt High School library is in the final running to win $15,000 for library renovations from the Subway contest. But people have only until May 12th to vote online for the project, one vote per person per day. Here is the link: http://vtele.ca/concours/ton-projet-subway/un.php?id=4.
This library, which is so appreciated by the Galt students for its many interesting activities, is certainly deserving of support for this contest. A small example of some of the interesting things that librarians Judith Munger and Dale Davidson have going on in their library could include yesterday’s “Biking smoothie” event which attracted 300 students to the library over the lunch hour to get a smoothie that was made by bicycle power. Today, the librarians will host a “Meditation and herbal tea tasting” followed by a “Pilates stretching”. “We want to prepare students for the final exams so they don’t panic!” commented Ms. Munger in an email. This week’s library display is titled: “Don’t be depressed before exams…” and will include tips, information and book suggestions to make exam time a little easier.
The level 2 students from Ms. Lord and Ms. Chouinard’s classes created maquettes of world landmarks, such as this one of the Kremlin Palace, that are being displayed in the school’s library.
