Shotgun/vegas golf to benefit CAB

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS - Victoria Vanier Stanstead

Organizersare preparing, for the third year in a row, one of the most fun local golf tournaments: the Annual Shotgun/ Vegas Golf Tournament to benefit the RH Rediker volunteer center (CAB), taking place at the Dufferin Heights Golf Club on June 14th. In 2012, $11,000 was raised through the tournament for this local resource which provides much-needed services to children, adults and seniors.

“A Shotgun/Vegas tournament means everyone starts at the same time but at different holes,” explained Robert Galazzo who organizes the tournament along with André Gaulin and Arthur LaPenna. Special hole sponsors add even more excitement to the event. The IGA Andre Roy and Family have sponsored hole # 14, promising $5000 in groceries to the first person to make a hole-in-one. Hole # 4 is sponsored by Campbell & Bellam Insurance who will give $20,000 for a hole-in-one. At hole # 7, whoever lands closest to the pin will receive some bottles of wine.

The tournament includes the 18 hole course, a cart, and a delicious mechoui meal. Non-golfers can attend just the meal but must also reserve ahead. During the meal, there will be a drawing for a 40 inch television set. People can buy raffle tickets ahead of time for the TV at the CAB RH Rediker, at the Dufferin Heights Golf Club, and from organizers. “We’ll have prizes for every golfer.”

Foursomes who would like to play and sponsors of the tournament have until May 31st to register. “We need time to make the signs of our sponsors to put up along the course,” said Mr. Galazzo.

Donation receipts for income tax purposes are available for golfers in the amount of $40 per person. For more information, to become a sponsor or to reserve a spot in the tournament or at the meal, call either Robert Galazzo (876-2505), André Gaulin (8767282)or Arthur LaPenna (8762941).
