Foreman Art Gallery, Bishop’s University Video Tank #6: Eléonore Saintagnan
A-one- month stay in the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges and the meeting with the inhabitants of these villages. Out of these discoveries were born a series of video portraits. The video An ABC Film (2010) is a tribute to those individuals who are seeking happiness outside of the box - those who still believe in something that feeds their individual myths and the worship of their gods, whether they are Vikings or Rock’n Roll gods, Saint Nicolas or brother Joseph. Eléonore Saintagnan, born in Paris in 1979, currently lives and works in Brussels. She graduated from Fresnoy in 2009, after studies in Visual Arts and Film Documentary. Film critic JeanMichel Frodon defines her work as “the rare ability to collect and share the beauty of people, places, things that go unnoticed.” Her films have been selected at the festival including Hors Pistes Centre Pompidou, at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival and the Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin/ Madrid, and for a development project in FIDLab 2012. She has shown her works at institutions such as: Palais de Tokyo, the Wiels Contemporary Art Centre, Brussels; Salon de Montrouge; or CRAC, Alsace. Eléonore Saintagnan is represented by the Galerie Elaine Levy Project in Brussels. Please join us for the exhibition’s opening reception, Saturday, May 25, 2013, from 2:00 – 4:00pm. Free. The exhibition is on view until July 13, 2013.
