‘Surprising’ Theme for Hatley Canada Day Celebration
Our country, with its vast landscapes and diverse communities, truly is a land of surprises with much to discover. That’s why the organizers of the 105th Annual Hatley Canada Day Celebration have chosen “Canada: Land of Surprises” for the theme of this year’s parade. Now, it will be up to the float makers participating in the parade, which will be held on Monday, July 1st 2013, to figure out how to best illustrate this wonderful aspect of our heritage as they vie for some of the thousands of dollars in prize money that is given away each year!
Although planning is still underway to make this year’s event the best yet and not all of the activities are finalized for the day, one activity that is returning is the soapbox derby. The soapbox derby is for young drivers aged at least 7 years old as of the day of the race. There’s still time to build a cart; anyone looking for instructions on how to fabricate a soap box can contact the Canada Day organizers at firstname.lastname@example.org or check online at www.hatleyparade.com. The celebration will also include the traditional children’s games, horse-drawn wagon rides, live music and fireworks.
