Students sweep through Stanstead

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS -

The entire student body and faculty of Stanstead College took to the streets and the woods last Thursday as part of their annual Community Cleanup Day. Divided into groups, the students spent the afternoon at various points in Stanstead picking, sorting, painting and planting. Two groups set out on the Beebe-to-Stanstead bike trail to retrieve trash along the way. At Sunnyside Elementary School, students painted the fence around the garden and pulled weeds. One group sorted books at the Haskell Free Library, while another organized donated books at the Rotary Club bookstore.

Some students picked up debris along Dufferin while others offered a helping hand at the Frontier Animal Society shelter.

At the new community garden behind Manoir Stanstead, students and teachers tilled the soil, sowed seeds and readied the garden for planting.

All in all, it was a successful and productive afternoon.
