Six people were arrested by the Regie de police Memphremagog (RPM) over the weekend for drinking and driving: three men over forty years of age, one 20 year-old man and two women in their twenties. On Sunday, the police were called to assist ambulance paramedics on chemin de la Montagne in Ste. Catherine de Hatley. A man was unconscious following a drug overdose. A woman there was arrested for selling drugs, possession of cocaine, GHB, methamphetamine, cannabis and medications. Drug paraphernalia was also seized. Finally, about a dozen parked, unlocked cars were ransacked during the night between June 15th and the 16th. Money, a DVD player, a GPS and an Ipod were stolen.
At around 5:30 pm on Monday, a citizen called the police after seeing a man breaking into a vending machine in the Cabana parking lot, in Magog, then taking off in a van. The suspect vehicle was caught on autoroute 10 and the suspect, a 22 year-old man from Laval, was arrested for possession of burglary tools and breaking parole conditions. He was kept in detention and appeared in court Tuesday morning. The driver of the van was arrested for drug possession and later released. Investigators believe other, similar thefts have been committed in the region and an investigation has begun.
